Brief a colleague before transferring the customer.

Use a warm transfer when the receiving person needs context before taking over a live business call.

Warm Transfer workflow visual
Warm Transfer Call flow. Step one: Set expectations with the caller. Explain that you will place them on hold while checking with a colleague. Step two: Brief the receiving person. Share the essential context and confirm that they can take ownership. Step three: Complete or recover. Connect the parties, or return to the caller and choose another path if the transfer cannot proceed. Why it matters: Consult before transfer. Place the caller on hold while the first agent speaks with the intended recipient.

Warm Transfer FAQs

What is the difference between warm and blind transfer?
A warm transfer includes a private consultation with the recipient before the handoff. A blind transfer sends the call without that prior conversation.
What if the receiving employee cannot take the call?
The first agent can return to the caller and use another supported path, such as a different colleague, queue, voicemail, or scheduled follow-up.
Is Warm Transfer available on every TalkChief account?
Warm-transfer behavior depends on client, endpoint, destination, call state, and account configuration. External transfers may incur additional usage charges.
